With the issues facing muslims espeically in the UK every year when it comes to announcing the start of Ramadhan and Eid, Shaykh Misbahul Malik Luqmani prepared a 3 hour lecture on the topic above.

The class started by giving everyone a history of moon sighting as done by the Ottoman and Mughal empire and then progressed through time towards the methods applied in today’s world. Shaykh Luqmanvi, using evidences from Qur’an and Sunnah and books of Fiqh, explained how instead on relying on outdated methods that create difficulties and divisions we should be looking utlising technology and accurate data that is readily available, for the sole purpose of bringing unity amongst Muslims.

We were able to ask questions about the topic and Shaykh Luqmanvi answered them so that understood. A slide show was also presented to visualise the data available and how it can be applied alongside the rulings provided within Shariah.

It was a truly eye opening class, delving into this relevant topic from every angle and refuting common misconceptions raised by many people.
